My first decent buck back in 2005. It was a long road to this point. Tons of encounters with big deer and a few that should've been successful. Finally one very warm and windy morning during the rut (I believe Nov. 10th) this guy chased a doe in and game me a good shot. I knew he wasn't the biggest deer in the woods, but I was stoked at that point. I will NEVER forget that morning...at least I hope not.
2006 was a year to remember! This buck came in with a hot doe on Oct 29th, about a week before the rest of the does started. It was mid morning and typically I would've left the stand when he came in, but since I had brought Sarah and the morning to that point had been slow I decided to hang in there a bit longer. 30yards, double lunged, 80yards worth of tracking and my hands have never grasped anything so good. It was so unreal I was speachless for a few minutes. Grossed 181 3/8. Weighed 240lbs dressed. Estimated at 6yrs old.
Certainly a day to remember. I hope that Sarah feels the same way as she'll probably never see a deer this size being harvested again.
I love this picture and Sarah hates it. Obviously not her normal smile, but still cute and fun. I just wish the deer looked that big with me behind him!
WOW!
A little promo toward the broadhead company...Tight Point Shuttle T-Locks. Awesome flight characteristics.
The split tines. Definitely off-spring of Muley, a buck my friend Joby had many pictures of years back that had a rack like a mule deer.
Ah, the big 10. I had 7 trail camera pics of this buck and got to see him once while bow hunting. He is truly magnificient. His brow tine was broken just about a week before I harvested him which is too bad because that one had a unique curve at the end of it. 20in inside spread, 26in beams, 157in gross basically as a 7pt....not too shabby.
